The weather has been crazy over the past couple of weeks but luckily it hasn’t affected the fishing too much. We have seen some nice sturgeon the past week and it should get better as spring rolls on. Salmon fishing continues to provide some big fish in the 15-20 pound range. It has been a great season so far and we are looking forward to the different fisheries that Vancouver has to offer throughout the summer and fall.
Sturgeon Fishing
We have been on the water a few times over the past couple of weeks and despite the dirty water we are pleased to report that the sturgeon fishing has been good. We are hooking 3-10 fish on our half day charters and these fish have been in the 3-5 foot range with a few in the 6’ range. We have been having most of our success on eulachon and lamprey. Spring is a great time of year to go sturgeon fishing so give us a call to discuss options to get you on the water.
Salmon Fishing
Salmon fishing has been quite good over the last couple of weeks. We have been spending most of our time in Howe Sound and we should see the South end of Bowen Island start to pick up any day now. We have moved away from spoons and switched over to bait. We are hooking 3-12 fish on a full day trip and we continue to see some larger fish being brought back to the dock. The spring and early summer fishery seems like it is always changing so come by the office to get all of your gear.
